Lakeland Village Community Center

Client: riverside county park and open-space district

BMLA had the pleasure of assisting with transforming the Butterfield Elementary School into a community center. The site, a permanently closed school, was purchased by the Riverside County Park and Open-Space District with the intent of transforming it into a space that could host community gatherings and harbor community growth. BMLA was tasked with preparing a Needs Assessment Report to help determine how best to develop programs and needed facilities; this comprehensive report was presented to District staff and the Lakeland Village Community Advisory Council. Additionally, our team conducted an on-site assessment of the property, hosted a community workshop and administered an online survey to collect community feedback. After completing our information gathering efforts a website was created to keep the community apprised of developments. The facility, now named the Lakeland Village Community Center, celebrated its grand opening in June of 2016.
